I’m Andrejs, and I’ve enjoyed quite the career journey that I think you’ll find interesting. From navigating vast oceans as a former officer in the merchant marine to managing the intricate dance of vessel movements as a vessel traffic service (VTS) operator, my experiences have shaped life into a vibrant mosaic of continuous learning and adaptation. And yes, I’m well into my retirement years, but frankly, the idea of slowing down just never sat well with me.
Let me tell you a bit about my time with the merchant marine. That career path was nothing short of transformative—filled with challenges and opportunities that required me to sharpen my leadership and problem-solving skills. Standing at the helm of a ship taught me a great deal about handling responsibility and thinking on my feet. It’s these skills that continue to serve me in my current role.
These days, my schedule is quite unconventional. I work 24-hour shifts every third day. It might sound intense, but it grants me large chunks of free time. I’ve put this time to good use by diving into the world of internet marketing—a field I’ve explored for nearly twenty years!
I’m not here to boast, but there’s something liberating about knowing that, if I chose to, I could step away from traditional employment purely based on my online exploits. That’s not something everyone can say, especially other seniors like me, looking to keep busy and financially independent.
